Midkemia operates on a whitelist. We check to ensure each player meets a certain standard before they are given access to the server. This allows us to be more proactive in providing the best experience possible for our players. The information that you supply in the whitelist request will be used to make a determination on your eligibility to join the Midkemia community.

Certain rules and guidelines are expected of our members. Be sure to read the following rules and guidelines carefully. You will need to understand and accept them in order to join the Midkemia community.

Server Rules

1: Treat others with respect – Simply put, try not to be a jerk outside of RP scenarios. It’s fine to not get along well, but keep things as polite as possible in all aspects of gameplay and communication.

2: Do not grief where it is not allowed – Whether through exploits or errors, if you find yourself able to destroy an area or kill a player or animal that should not allow for it, don’t. Most factions will set their own permissions for their lands. Safezone is never allowed to be edited by non-admins. Wilderness is a free-for-all and griefing of buildings in areas marked as Wilderness is fair play. It is, however, against the rules to build “towers to nowhere” using any material, or lava-grief, or water-grief, not only in Wilderness but anywhere.

3: X-ray is unconditionally forbidden – There is no scenario on the server where X-ray clients or X-ray texture packs are allowed for any reason. X-ray is the quickest way to unbalance a player economy and make it a bad experience for everyone. Systems are in place to prevent and monitor attempted X-ray use, and offending players will receive a ban without warning. Second offence is a permanent ban.

4: Profanity is a spice not a meal – Everyone likes a little spice from time to time, but you don’t see folks going around eating bowls of paprika. Feel free to use spicy language in moderation. It is forbidden to use profanity towards, or hurl insults directly to, other players (see rule 1). Offences may be met with moderation actions including chat restrictions, jail, or bans in extreme cases

5: Harassment of any kind is unacceptable – Keeping in line with Rule 1, it’s important to understand that harassment can take many forms.

Examples include: purposefully blocking block placement, inappropriate comments about a particular class of person, building symbols intended to intimidate a particular class of person, begging, flooding plugin functions that target another player, spam mails, spam in public chat channels, inappropriate sign usage, claim-blocking, and following if told to go away in protected areas.

It is important that our members feel welcome and are able to enjoy their time while in Midkemia. Harassment will be met with appropriate action for the offence up to and including a permanent IP ban, without warning.

6: Do not ask for privileges using the in-game chat – We choose our staff carefully and asking for staff positions or “OP” in chat is wasted effort and annoying to other players and existing staff. This also includes asking for, or “suggesting” access to, certain tools or permissions that your current rank does not already have. There is a suggestions form on this site as well as a channel on the discord. These forms are the best way to send valid, well-thought-out suggestions to the staff, but also must not be used to ask for privileges not already granted.

7: Exploits, Scams, and Subterfuge – An exploit in this context refers to any unpermitted action being taken that should usually be blocked by the server. Exploits are not allowed and it is advised that if you should find one, that you please contact an admin either through direct message, or the mail system.
A scam in this context involves the deliberate deception toward another human player for a personal gain. An example would be: Players agreeing to a trade, and changing the items or money amount stealthily before pressing the ready button; Or, exploiting a sign shop in a way that misrepresents what the shop is actually selling to the player or the amount to be paid. Scams that involve the use of external links or server exploits are not allowed.
Subterfuge in this context involves joining a party or a faction with the intent of doing harm to the goals of said party or faction. Subterfuge does not have a hard-and-fast ruleset, and can be dealt with by the party or faction, or by staff if necessary on a case-by-case basis. Should the subterfuge breach another server rule, the action appropriate to that particular rule will be taken.
The stances on these subjects is to allow for interesting RP scenarios that involve in-character criminality, without sacrificing community stability.

8. Advertisement – Adverts of any kind that refer to something outside of the server, are not allowed on public chat channels. Social media handles or similar adverts may be used on signs, banners, or books. Adverts for other servers, plugins, hosts, etc are not allowed anywhere (public chat, private chat, mail system, signs, builds, holes, banners, etc) and will be met with appropriate action. Adverts for in-game services or items to buy/sell/trade are allowed with the expectation that they will be posted in the Trade chat channel specifically, or through local interactions such as signs, banners, pixel-art, builds, faction, party, and private chats, etc.
