Mods and admins of Midkemia receive a generous toolset to allow them to take action when action is needed. You will have the ability to moderate chat in all forms (including PMs and private channels), spectator mode, world edit, inventory control, block logging, creative mode, and many many more abilities to help you help Midkemia be a place everyone can enjoy!

Staff members receive special rank recognition and extra access to staff-only worlds and areas. As a staff member, you will also have a voice in how the server evolves and continues to run.

Midkemia staff is made up of volunteers (including the owner). There are no dictations on how you spend your time or how often you log in. Simply put, if you’re willing to help when you’re around, great! Duty boards will show available admin jobs for when things are slow, but of course it is voluntary to complete those jobs. Some jobs will come with in-game rewards that can be applied to a character of your choosing.

Some limited yet common examples of staff duties include:

  • Identify Xray users and deliver the appropriate action
  • Moderate chat
  • Expand the road system and/or connect roads to lands upon request by players
  • General Terraforming
  • Identify and remedy plugin issues
  • Use Spark to monitor server performance
  • Adjust player ranks if appropriate
  • Action players for various rule violations
  • Dispense Bans and Unbans (kicks, suspensions, jail, etc)
  • Recognize players for being positive role-models for the community
  • Participate in Admin builds (spawn, hubs, arenas, etc)
  • Host server events (administrative or make your own if you want)
  • Moderate 3rd party communication (Discord, Telegram, Forum, Ticket System)
  • Promote Midkemia on server-lists or social media
  • Be an overall visible member of the Midkemia community
  • Nominate exceptional players for staff positions
  • Maintain / monitor command clocks*
  • Set, remove, edit, and monitor automated server tasks*
  • Responsibly update plugins and adjust configs as needed*
  • Close and reopen server for various maintenance tasks*
  • Update server MOTD*
  • Update server version when applicable and necessary*
  • Post announcements to 3rd party communications and social media accounts*
  • Prune and/or expand permissions nodes as needed*
  • Edit player NBT data as necessary*
  • Update or edit Bluemap parameters and renders*
  • Create or edit kits/shops/NPCs/Holograms/Images and various Executable Items*
  • Enlist standard players as helpers by giving them temporary limited creative mode or spectator mode*
  • Nominate exceptional mods for Admin positions*

Requirements and Recommended Skills

As Midkemia is a new server, were looking for candidates who are interested in getting involved on the ground floor, and who are willing to learn and grow with the server. As such, we are open to the recruitment of first-time staff applicants with some limited general requirements:

  • 18 Years or older
  • Native English speaker
  • Secure and private internet connection
  • A willingness to share ideas and be heard
  • General knowledge of Minecraft mechanics and feature sets

For Admins the basic recommended skills are as follows:

  • Meet all general requirements above (required)
  • Be proficient with permissions plugins (LuckPerms, Pex, etc) and understand how nodes work and when to use them
  • Be proficient with WorldEdit copy, paste, stack, schematics, selections, brushes, etc.
  • Be proficient with editing and understanding YML and JSON files and know when and why edits or changes are necessary
  • Prior experience with cPanel, GamePanel, BukkitGUI, or command-line server operations
  • An understanding of how and when to use FTP as it pertains to Minecraft servers
  • Understand what makes plugin features conflict and know the process one takes to solve such conflicts
  • Able to fully learn and understand the ins and outs of new-to-you plugins or server features
  • Fluency in Minecraft commands and understanding what they really do and their proper syntax
  • The willingness to learn and perhaps even teach
