Terms of Service (TOS) for Midkemia – Minecraft SMP Server

Effective Date: December 28th 2024

Welcome to Midkemia! By accessing or using our server, you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service. These terms apply to all players, visitors, and users of our Minecraft SMP server (the “Server”). If you do not agree to these terms, you are not authorized to use our services, and we request that you please do not play on or access the Server.

1. General Conduct

  • Respect Others: All players are expected to behave in a respectful and civil manner. Harassment, or any form of garbage behavior, directed at other players, will not be tolerated.
  • Language: This is an adult-focused server. Colorful language is to be expected but is not to be directed specifically at other players
  • Cheating & Exploits: Any form of cheating, including but not limited to the use of hacks, mods, or exploits that give an unfair advantage, is strictly forbidden. Players found using cheats will have proper action taken against them, up to, and including permanent ban.
  • Griefing & Theft: Griefing (deliberately destroying or altering others’ builds), stealing, or otherwise ruining other players’ experiences is prohibited anywhere other than “Wilderness”. This includes breaking into player structures or stealing items.

2. Gameplay Rules

  • PvP: Any form of Player vs. Player combat (PvP) is subject to the rules outlined in the Server’s specific gameplay rules. PvP may only be enabled in designated zones or with prior consent from involved parties.
  • Building: Players are encouraged to build and create freely but must respect others’ builds and claim boundaries.
  • Economy & Trading: Players are allowed to trade resources and items with others. However, scams or misleading trades are strictly prohibited outside the context of established roleplay.
  • Server Features: Do not exploit bugs, glitches, or server features to gain an advantage. Report bugs to the staff team immediately.

3. Server Moderation

  • Staff Authority: Server staff members have the right to enforce rules, issue warnings, kicks, or bans as necessary. Disrespecting or arguing with staff members will result in disciplinary action.
  • Punishments: Violating the Server’s rules can result in punishments such as warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans, depending on the severity of the offense.
  • Appeals: If you feel a punishment was issued in error, you may appeal to the staff team via our ticket system located on this site.

4. Account Responsibility

  • Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Minecraft account. Do not share your login credentials or allow others to use your account. The Server is not responsible for any account compromises. You will be held solely accountable for any actions your account takes on the server.
  • Ban Evasion: Using alternate accounts to evade bans or punishments is prohibited and may result in a permanent ban on all accounts involved, without warning.

5. Privacy and Data

  • Personal Information: We respect your privacy. The Server may collect minimal personal data (such as your Minecraft username and IP address) for the purpose of moderation, communication, and maintaining a safe environment. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties.
  • Recording: By joining the Server, you consent to being recorded, including but not limited to screenshots, livestreams, and videos that may be used for promotional purposes or administrative needs. If you do not wish to be recorded, please refrain from participating in such activities.

6. Server Changes & Downtime

  • Updates: The Server may be updated, modified, or reset at any time. Players will be notified in advance of major changes whenever possible.
  • Downtime: The Server may experience temporary downtime for maintenance, updates, or unforeseen issues. We are not responsible for any loss of progress, items, or data due to downtime.

7. Third-Party Content

  • Mods & Plugins: The Server may use third-party mods, plugins, or external tools to enhance gameplay. Players must ensure they are compliant with any rules regarding these tools. Unauthorized or illegal plugins may lead to immediate removal or suspension from the Server.
  • External Links: The Server may contain links to third-party websites or resources. We are not responsible for the content or actions of these external sites.

8. Limitation of Liability

  • The Server and its staff make no guarantees regarding uptime, performance, or the prevention of data loss. By using the Server, you agree not to hold us liable for any direct or indirect damages resulting from your use of the Server.

9. Modifications to Terms

  • We reserve the right to modify or update these Terms of Service at any time. You will be notified of any significant changes, and your continued use of the Server will constitute acceptance of those changes.
